Industrial AI · Heavy industry

AI for the field, from someone who’s done the work.

Generator sets, construction machinery, heavy industry. I spent three and a half years on site with diesel and gas generator sets — Caterpillar, Olympian, MWM — often with a customer’s operation stopped and waiting. I know how the work is actually done, where the hours go, and what a technician will really use.

For generator and power-generation service companies, heavy-equipment dealers and their service teams, and manufacturing plants.

Where AI fits

Four places it pays for itself.

  • Service manual & fault-code assistant

Technicians ask in plain language on site — a fault code, a symptom, a part. The answer comes from your own manuals, service bulletins and past reports, with the source page shown so it can be checked.

  • Service reports without the paperwork

Voice notes and photos from the job become a finished service report and checklist, in the format your customers already expect. The technician reviews it instead of typing it.

  • AI that works offline

Open-weight models running on a laptop or a server inside your plant. No internet needed on site, and no documents or customer data leaving the building.

  • Engineering & CAD workflows

Automating drawing and cutting preparation — the repetitive work between a design and the machine. CutFlow, an AutoCAD plugin for laser-cutting shops, came out of this work.

How I work

The same way I’d fix an engine.

On site, guessing costs someone else’s downtime. So I don’t guess with AI either.

  1. 01

    Read the symptoms.

Start from the work as it’s done today, with the people who do it — not from the tool.

  2. 02

    Form a hypothesis, test it.

Pick the task where AI saves real hours and prove it on real documents and real jobs before anything grows.

  3. 03

Make it work for the user.

The result has to make sense to someone who doesn’t care how it works, only whether it works. I spent years being that person.

Hands-on experience

What I’ve worked on.
